About Pack 85

Our Cub Scout Pack was founded on June 21, 1937, with 11 boys and 5 adult leaders in Morton, IL. The very first Pack meeting was held on August 15, 1937 at the City Hall. At that time, Pack 85 was sponsored by the American Legion Post # 318. The charter fees in 1937 were $10.50 and patches cost $0.10 each!

In 1943, Pack 85 became non-existent as there was no sponsoring organization and there were no adult leaders. Another reason why every adult should volunteer with their units!

On November 4, 1946, Pack 85 was reborn by the Morton PTA group. There were 31 boys and 11 adult leaders. The pack consisted of 6 dens (one of which was a Webelos den). At that time, they met at the City Hall in Morton on the 3rd Friday of each month.

Since 1946, Pack 85 has been growing strong. We are chartered to the Jefferson School PTO in Morton, IL. Our pack consists of over 50 boys and girls and we continue to grow every year. (In 2018 there was a national campaign to start accepting girls into Cub Scouts.)  Our boys come from Jefferson School, Lincoln School, and Bethany Lutheren. Our boys range in ages from Kindergarteners (Lion Cubs) to 5th Graders (Webelos II Cub Scouts).

Scouting is about having fun with a purpose. We work to make Scouting an activity that your children will enjoy while teaching them the cub scout law. A scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Feel free to contact any of our leaders if you have any questions about our Pack. Or even come to one of our monthly Pack Meetings to see if Scouting is for your child!
